NGVAmerica is a national organization dedicated to the development of a growing, profitable, and sustainable market for vehicles powered by natural gas or biomethane. NGVAmerica represents more than 200 companies, environmental groups, and government organizations interested in the promotion and use of natural gas and biomethane as transportation fuels.

Project Overview:

GNA worked with NGVAmerica to develop a set of strategic recommendations on how state agencies should use the $2.7 billion Environmental Mitigation Trust (EMT) funds distributed as part of the Volkswagen diesel emission settlement. Paired with the recommendations, which outlined ways states could achieve the greatest NOx emission reductions, GNA developed a graphic-based messaging campaign to help clearly convey the unrivaled benefits of heavy-duty natural gas vehicles to key legislators and policy makers. The messaging campaign centered around the commercial availability of natural gas engines certified to have NOx emissions 90% below the EPA standard, as well as the increasing supply of renewable natural gas, which can reduce GHG emissions by 40 to 125% (varies by feedstock).

The messaging campaign was deployed across multiple mediums, including letters and fact sheets mailed directly to the representatives in each state that were responsible for allocating VW EMT funds, as well as slide decks and infographics presented during face-to-face follow up meetings with key decision makers.
